RULES DON'T APPLY - SOLO EXHIBITION  2019-2020

Commisioned by The Royal Shakespeare Company

Rule’s Don’t Apply was an interactive family focused art exhibition, created by Megan and curated by the in-house team at The Royal Shakespeare Company, to sit alongside the David Walliams 2019 musical ‘The Boy In The Dress’ directed by Gregory Doran, featuring songs created by Robbie Williams & Guy Chambers.

As Lead Artist on this project, Megan worked with families exploring topics around gender & identity.

This exhibition was co-created with a young female football team and local refugee families.

At one point during the creation process for the exhibition a sugar glass window was intentionally smashed by a football, and a conga to a cake station allowed us to celebrate all the gender nonconformity we embrace that make us US.

A huge thank you to Ida Ballerini, Nicky Salmon, Ramona Eve Bigwood & Ali Brown for their support in creating, curating & mounting this exhibition.

FEEDBACK

“I loved smashing the stereotypes today. It felt amazing to smash a sugar glass window”

“what a beautiful exhibition. It compliments the stage show perfectly and represents the voices of many”

“young people today have so much to be worried about. It’s nice to remind them there is lots to celebrate about who they are.”
