21st CENTURY SUPER SHRINES

THE PROJECT
21st CENTURY SUPER SHRINES 2020 - 2024
Produced by SuperCulture & Funded by Historic England
As Lead Artist on this 4 year national portfolio project, working with SuperCulture for Historic England, Megan was responsible for celebrating & weaving human connection within the town of Weston-super-Mare. She worked with SuperCulture to select and support the 3 national artists, who were each invited & supported by Meg to connect with a different community group & create an artistic “shrine” together.
SHRINE ONE: SUPER WONDER SHRINE
By Morag Myerscough - Paying tribute to the valued pets of Weston-super-Mare.
SHRINE TWO: BROTHERS ACROSS THE DECADES
By Tom Marshman - Paying tribute to queer stories across Weston-super-Mare.
SHRINE THREE: PIGEON
By Chila Kumari Singh- Burman Paying tribute of stories about migrating towards Weston-super-Mare.
During the first 3 shrines Meg created the YouTube & Podcast series Chip Chat, which involved Meg as The ChipAdvisor hosting conversations about creative connection over a portion of chips with artists, local residents & the chip shop fryers.
SHRINE FOUR : YOU SHRINE
By Megan Clark-Bagnall - In 2023 Meg celebrated all the shrines and people she met along the way with her own project. This performance was a celebration of life, created with consultation from Celebrant Bec Gee & a digital image collage created with digital artist Shruti Bhoyar and photographer Paul Blakemore. Colourful props were created by P(r)op Artist Ramona Eve
