MAJORETTE MEG

THE PROJECT

MAJORETTE MEG:  EASTLEIGH ARTIST IN RESIDENCE

Commissioned by Eastleigh Borough Council.

Inspired by local heritage to take on the role of Majorette Meg, Megan created & hosted a series of events inspired by PAST, PRESENT & FUTURE themes, connecting PLAY with PLAYce. Supported by Creative Producer Ronnie Houselander-Cook, Meg’s activities included :

  • A customised helter skelter in the town centre, asking residents to slide into the PAST with Majorette Meg & share memories.

  • A crafty workshop of wing making to celebrate all that’s flying in the borough in PRESENT day.

  • An ice cream van exchange asking residents what they scream for in the FUTURE.

  • A podcast of Meg’s Eastleigh findings was recorded with audio artist Rowan Bishop.

FEEDBACK

‘"We do have fond memories of this place. I guess you just don’t often think of them. You always just think Beastleigh Eastleigh but it is nice for families, a community, and we are making memories today and we’ve done lots of that in the past too"

"Nice to be asked what I think not just “done” to me"

"Open up more about life that I didn’t think about before"
