Title: Type Away – Accentuate the Positive
Date: September, 2012
Exhibition: Taming the Tentacles
Location: The National Trust’s Shalford Mill, Surrey, UK.

Inspired by correspondence between Ferguson’s Gang (a group of women who saved many British heritage sites during the 1930’s) and The National Trust I was inspired by the purpose and purposelessness of typed correspondence in the modern world. I delivered a speech to open a den I installed in the water mill. The audience were invited to enter the office like den one person at a time and write a positive letter to a recipient of their choice. A carbon copy was made of each letter and posted to an online gallery. One letter moved me to tears.

This project was developed in Poynton Library for a new audience in 2013.
